Today we continue that tradition with a more thoughtful heart than usual because we realize that the values these brave adventurers brought with them must be defended or they will be lost. They didn’t have an easy time of it but ultimately they survived and started a tradition of thanking God for his provision and blessing despite the trials they experienced. It is truly a precious time all because a few courageous people defied all the odds and landed in this beautiful land to begin the great American experiment. We will miss the ones no longer with us and share precious memories of them. Then we will go around the table and tell everyone what we are thankful for which will bring a few tears and lots and lots of laughter. We will prepare a meal together, gather around a bountiful table and say Grace. There are families just like mine who will come together and laugh, tease each other, and try and control the chaos that is always a part of this day. Thanks to this site, I know I am not alone. I find myself more grateful to God for what I have and why I am so blessed. Although there seems to be a cloud of dread hanging over this country, and each day brings another outrage, I find myself looking for answers vertically more often than horizontally. There is something about hardship that makes you feel thankful. We are definitely having some pretty trying times but today I feel so thankful for this country and my fellow Patriots. Is it just me or does this Thanksgiving feel just a little different from the others? Does it have a little more significance? Are you thinking about the reason we are so privileged to live in this great country? I know I am. Happy Thanksgiving to my LDotter friends! Have a blessed day with your families and friends.
